| Equipment Summer Walking -(March to June) Walking boots, stout shoes, or good trainers, all of which should be comfortable to wear and have a rubber sole. As the majority of paths are stony and dusty then good footwear is essential. Small rucksack which should contain a sunhat, sun lotion of at least SPF 20, water and food on days when a picnic is required. Winter walking – (Nov to Feb) Footwear as Summer. Rubber soles are essential as some of the paths and rocks are slippery when wet. Small rucksack, waterproof clothing, long trousers. Spare warm clothing Weather The climate is typically Mediterranean with long hot summer days, and mild wet winters. There are some days with high winds during the winter months that may add to the chill factor especially when walking on ridges and cliffs. We do not offer walking holidays from mid June to early September due to the high summer temperatures. The hours of sunshine average 6 hours daily in winter, and 10 hours daily in summer. | | Average daytime temperature ºC | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec | 15 | 15 | 16 | 18 | 23 | 27 | 27 | 24 | 20 | 16 | | Average monthly rainfall in mm | 90 | 60 | 45 | 24 | 9 | 4 | 40 | 123 | 76 | 100 | | | Country Code for Walkers All our walks strictly follow the “Country Code” for Ramblers i.e. “Take nothing but photographs, leave nothing but footprints.” |
